WarGraves.photography is the website for my book War Graves.
In 2012, I decided to use a short two-day break to travel a bit through France. I visited more than a dozen German war cemeteries, and it was an overwhelming experience. When I got to the Andilly German War Cemetery which counts 33,085 burials, I decided I’ll become a member of the German War Graves Commission and support their work. Although the cemetery seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, it was in a fantastic state. There even was an elderly couple at someone’s grave and I was wondering how often they drove more than 150 miles to visit the cemetery.
Work on the first War Graves is
underway done. It will cover 47 covers 68 war cemeteries in Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Sweden, and the Netherlands. I want to continue with a book about cemeteries in Flanders and hopefully, one day, make it to Eastern Europe or Russia to proceed with the somewhat new German war cemeteries.
Many photos on here are not in the book and I encourage visitors to submit their own photos of war cemeteries.
